Morgan Ryder is supporting a major industrial manufacturing business in the search for a new Head of Health, Safety & Environment

The Role

Reporting directly to executive leadership, you will take full ownership of the HSE agenda, leading the business through a critical period of improvement and transformation.

You will assess current performance, identify risk and opportunity, and implement the systems, structure, and behaviours needed to create a safer, stronger, and more compliant operation.

Key Responsibilities

• Rebuild and embed a robust HSE management system across the business.
• Lead closure of multiple regulatory improvement actions and ensure sustainable compliance.
• Drive cultural change from reactive compliance to proactive HSE leadership.
• Ensure full compliance with UK HSE and environmental legislation.
• Lead ISO 14001 / ISO 45001 implementation and optimisation.
• Develop and standardise HSE policies, procedures, and operational controls
• Strengthen standards across machine safety, LOTO, PPE, contractor management, and workplace controls
• Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action planning
• Establish HSE KPIs, governance, and executive reporting structures
• Build HSE capability through coaching, engagement, and leadership development

About You

We are looking for a proven senior HSE professional with experience in complex, high-risk manufacturing, or industrial environments.

You will have:

• NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent)
• Experience in a "hand on" Senior / head or HSE role in a manufacturing environment
• Solid experience of working with high temperature manufacturing processes while ensuring site safety and compliance
• Strong knowledge of UK HSE legislation and ISO standards
• Experience leading HSE transformation or turnaround programmes
• A track record of improving standards in challenging operational environments
• The resilience, presence, and credibility to influence senior stakeholders and operational teams alike
