Head of Health, Safety & Environment

Executive Leadership Opportunity with highly competitive salary, car allowance, bonus
This Is Not a Role for Someone Seeking Stability. This Is for Someone Who Wants to Build, Transform, and Leave a Legacy.
Morgan Ryder is supporting a major industrial manufacturing business in the search for a new Head of Health, Safety & Environment
This is not a maintenance role. This is not for someone looking to inherit polished systems and simply keep things ticking over. This is a genuine transformation opportunity for an experienced HSE leader ready to take on a demanding, high-impact challenge with the rewards to match.
The business is at a pivotal point in its HSE journey and is currently working through multiple regulatory improvement actions, creating an urgent need for a strong, credible leader who can rebuild standards, drive accountability, and lead meaningful change.
If you thrive under pressure, enjoy tackling complex challenges, and want the opportunity to leave a lasting legacy, this role offers exactly that.
The Role
Reporting directly to executive leadership, you will take full ownership of the HSE agenda, leading the business through a critical period of improvement and transformation.
You will assess current performance, identify risk and opportunity, and implement the systems, structure, and behaviours needed to create a safer, stronger, and more compliant operation.
This role requires someone who is:
- Comfortable operating in challenging environments
- Confident holding teams accountable
- Able to influence at every level of the business
- Driven to challenge the status quo and raise standards
Key Responsibilities
- Rebuild and embed a robust HSE management system across the business.
- Lead closure of multiple regulatory improvement actions and ensure sustainable compliance.
- Drive cultural change from reactive compliance to proactive HSE leadership.
- Ensure full compliance with UK HSE and environmental legislation.
- Lead ISO 14001 / ISO 45001 implementation and optimisation.
- Develop and standardise HSE policies, procedures, and operational controls
- Strengthen standards across machine safety, LOTO, PPE, contractor management, and workplace controls
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action planning
- Establish HSE KPIs, governance, and executive reporting structures
- Build HSE capability through coaching, engagement, and leadership development
About You
We are looking for a proven senior HSE professional with experience in complex, high-risk manufacturing, or industrial environments.
You will have:
- NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent)
- Experience in a "hand on" Senior / head or HSE role in a manufacturing environment
- Solid experience of working with high temperature manufacturing processes while ensuring site safety and compliance
- Strong knowledge of UK HSE legislation and ISO standards
- Experience leading HSE transformation or turnaround programmes
- A track record of improving standards in challenging operational environments
- The resilience, presence, and credibility to influence senior stakeholders and operational teams alike
Why Apply?
Because opportunities like this don't come around often.
This is a role where you can:
- Take full ownership of the HSE function
- Operate with executive-level visibility and influence
- Lead genuine business transformation
- Make a measurable and lasting impact
Be under no illusion, this role will challenge you.
But for the right person, it could be the most rewarding opportunity of your career.
If you are interested in being considered for the role, please send your CV directly to Sharon@morganryder.co.uk.
- You must have the right to work in the UK without the need for sponsorship in order to be considered.
- You must have a UK driving licence.
- You must be living or wiling to relocate full time to the Wrexham area
